Zoetrope was a thrash metal band that emerged from the Chicago metal scene in the early 1980s. The band was known for its aggressive style and socio-political lyrics, which set them apart from some of their contemporaries. Zoetrope released their debut album "Amnesty" in 1985, which showcased their raw energy and established them within the metal community. They followed up with "A Life of Crime" in 1987, further cementing their reputation for fast-paced thrash with a gritty edge. Despite never achieving the mainstream success of some of their peers, Zoetrope maintained a dedicated following and are remembered for their contributions to the thrash metal genre during its formative years.
