Swedish Death Metal Band

Usurpress was a Swedish death metal band known for blending elements of traditional death metal with sludge and crust punk influences. The band was formed in Uppsala, Sweden, in 2010, and they quickly made a name for themselves within the underground metal scene. Usurpress released several albums that showcased their unique approach to the genre, including "Untitled / Animalist," "The Regal Tribe," and "Interregnum." These records were well-received for their innovative mix of styles and their raw, aggressive sound. The band's lineup included notable musicians such as vocalist Stefan Pettersson, guitarist Pål Lohm, bassist Daniel Ekeroth—who is also known as a writer and the author of the book "Swedish Death Metal"—and drummer Mathias Lillmåns. Throughout their career, Usurpress toured extensively and gained a loyal following among fans of extreme metal before disbanding in 2018 following the death of guitarist Pål Lohm.
