Tony MacAlpine is a highly respected guitarist and keyboardist, known for his proficiency in neoclassical metal, instrumental rock, and jazz fusion genres. Emerging as a part of the 1980s shred guitar scene, MacAlpine has built a career that spans over three decades. He released his debut album, "Edge of Insanity," in 1986, which showcased his virtuosic guitar skills and classical influences. Throughout his career, MacAlpine has been involved in numerous projects and bands, including Planet X with Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati, as well as the supergroup PSMS (Portnoy/Sheehan/MacAlpine/Sherinian). Additionally, he has been a part of Steve Vai's touring band The Breed.
