Tomita

Japanese electronic music composer

Isao Tomita, often known simply as Tomita, was a pioneering Japanese composer and electronic musician who gained international acclaim for his innovative adaptations of classical music using synthesizers. Born on April 22, 1932, in Tokyo, Japan, he initially studied art and music at Keio University. Tomita's career took a significant turn when he encountered the Moog synthesizer in the late 1960s. Fascinated by its capabilities, he began experimenting with electronic sounds and eventually released his first electronic album "Switched-On Rock" in 1972, featuring Moog synthesizer renditions of contemporary pop and rock songs.
