Thee Headcoats were a British garage rock band that emerged from the remnants of Thee Mighty Caesars, with prolific musician Billy Childish at the helm. Formed in 1989, the group was known for its raw, primitive rock sound and its leader's steadfast DIY ethic. Childish, whose real name is Steven John Hamper, is a cult figure in the garage rock scene and has been involved in numerous musical projects throughout his career. Thee Headcoats became one of his most notable acts, gaining a dedicated following through their relentless touring and extensive discography. The band's music was characterized by its lo-fi production, catchy melodies, and often irreverent lyrics. They remained active throughout the 1990s until they disbanded in the early 2000s.
