The Use of Ashes is a Dutch band that emerged from the remnants of the group Mekanik Kommando, which was active in the 1980s. After Mekanik Kommando disbanded, two of its members, Peter van Vliet and Michael Marsh, formed The Use of Ashes in 1988. The band's music is characterized by its atmospheric and experimental soundscapes, often incorporating elements of psychedelic rock and folk. Throughout their career, they have been known for their creative approach to music production and a penchant for conceptually driven albums. The Use of Ashes has maintained a cult following over the years and continues to produce music that pushes the boundaries of genre conventions.
