The RH Factor is a musical project led by jazz trumpeter Roy Hargrove. Established in the early 2000s, The RH Factor represents a fusion of jazz with elements of funk, soul, and hip-hop. Roy Hargrove was already an acclaimed jazz musician before forming this group, having won Grammy Awards for his work in both the jazz and Latin jazz categories. With The RH Factor, he sought to explore different musical territories and collaborate with a diverse array of musicians. The project brought together artists from various genres, creating a sound that was both innovative and rooted in tradition. The RH Factor released several albums, including the critically acclaimed "Hard Groove" in 2003, which featured collaborations with artists such as Q-Tip, Erykah Badu, and Common. The ensemble's work is noted for its genre-blending style and has contributed to Hargrove's reputation as a versatile and adventurous musician until his untimely passing in 2018.
