The Lotus Eaters are a British new wave band that formed in 1982 in Liverpool. Primarily known for their hit single "The First Picture of You," which became a staple of the early 1980s and a defining track of the era, they gained significant attention and commercial success. The band was originally composed of Peter Coyle on vocals and Jeremy "Jem" Kelly on guitar, with various other members joining and leaving throughout their active years. Their debut album, "No Sense of Sin," was released in 1984 and received critical acclaim for its melodic and introspective pop songs. Despite their initial success, The Lotus Eaters disbanded in 1985 but later reformed in the 1990s to release new material and perform live shows. Their music is characterized by a gentle, melodic pop sound that often features lush arrangements and introspective lyrics.
