Pioneering Folk-Rock Band from the 1960s

The Byrds were an influential American rock band that emerged from the mid-1960s folk rock scene in California. Formed in 1964, the group's original lineup consisted of Jim McGuinn (later known as Roger McGuinn), Gene Clark, David Crosby, Chris Hillman, and Michael Clarke. They are widely regarded as pioneers of folk rock, psychedelic rock, and country rock, blending harmonious vocal styles with jangly guitar sounds. The Byrds achieved immediate success with their cover of Bob Dylan's "Mr. Tambourine Man," which became a number one hit and is often credited with initiating the folk rock movement.
