The Blues Brothers, originally conceived by comedians Dan Aykroyd and John Belushi as part of a musical sketch on "Saturday Night Live," evolved into a real performing band and a cultural phenomenon in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The act was characterized by its members' dark sunglasses, suits, and fedoras, and their commitment to blues and soul music. After their initial appearance on SNL in 1978, The Blues Brothers released their debut album, "Briefcase Full of Blues," the same year. The album was well-received, featuring covers of blues and soul standards and showcasing the talents of respected musicians such as Steve Cropper and Donald "Duck" Dunn from Booker T. & the M.G.'s.
