The Spice Girls are a British pop girl group formed in 1994, consisting of five members: Melanie Brown ("Scary Spice"), Melanie Chisholm ("Sporty Spice"), Emma Bunton ("Baby Spice"), Geri Halliwell ("Ginger Spice"), and Victoria Beckham ("Posh Spice"). They became a global phenomenon with their debut single "Wannabe" in 1996, which hit number one in 37 countries. Their debut album "Spice" sold more than 31 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling album by a female group in history. They followed up with their second album "Spiceworld" in 1997, which spawned hit singles such as "Spice Up Your Life" and "Too Much." The group was known for their "Girl Power" mantra and distinctive individual personas.
