Sodom

German thrash metal band

Sodom is a German thrash metal band that was formed in Gelsenkirchen in 1981 by vocalist and bassist Tom Angelripper (real name Thomas Such), guitarist Frank "Blackfire" Gosdzik, and drummer Chris Witchhunter (real name Christian Dudek). The band is considered one of the "big four" of Teutonic thrash metal, alongside Kreator, Destruction, and Tankard. Sodom's music is known for its aggressive style combined with socially critical lyrics. They gained a following in the underground metal scene with their early raw speed metal influenced releases like "In the Sign of Evil" and "Obsessed by Cruelty."
