Icelandic electronic music trio

Samaris was an Icelandic electronic music group formed in 2011, consisting of Jófríður Ákadóttir (vocals), Áslaug Rún Magnúsdóttir (clarinet), and Þórður Kári Steinþórsson (electronics). The trio gained recognition for their unique blend of glacial electronica, ethereal vocals, and clarinet melodies, often incorporating Icelandic poetry and lyrics into their music. Their self-titled debut album, "Samaris," released in 2013, compiled tracks from their earlier EPs and introduced them to a wider audience. They followed up with "Silkidrangar" in 2014, which further developed their sound and showcased a maturing artistry. In 2016, Samaris released "Black Lights," an album that marked a shift towards a more dance-oriented and accessible sound while still maintaining the atmospheric qualities that defined their earlier work. The band has been noted for their innovative approach to music and their contribution to the Icelandic music scene.
