Riccardo / Stefa Chailly

Riccardo Chailly is an esteemed Italian conductor with a distinguished career in classical music. Born in Milan in 1953, he is the son of the composer Luciano Chailly. Riccardo Chailly has served as the music director of several prominent orchestras, including the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, where he was chief conductor from 1988 to 2004. He has also been at the helm of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and became their 19th Kapellmeister in 2005, a position he held until 2016. In addition to his conducting roles, Chailly has made numerous recordings with various orchestras, earning acclaim for his interpretations of both the standard symphonic repertoire and operatic works. His discography includes recordings of composers such as Brahms, Beethoven, and Mahler. In 2015, he became the music director of La Scala opera house in Milan, succeeding Daniel Barenboim.
