Pennywise is an American punk rock band from Hermosa Beach, California, formed in 1988. The group is named after the monster from Stephen King's novel "It." Throughout their career, Pennywise has become one of the most significant bands in the punk scene, known for their aggressive sound and sociopolitical lyrics. The band's lineup, for the most part, has consisted of Jim Lindberg (vocals), Fletcher Dragge (guitar), Randy Bradbury (bass), and Byron McMackin (drums). They gained mainstream attention with their self-titled album "Pennywise," which was released in 1991. Following the success of their debut, they continued to build their reputation with subsequent albums such as "About Time" in 1995 and "Straight Ahead" in 1999. These records helped cement Pennywise's place in punk rock history, showcasing their ability to blend melody with fast-paced punk rhythms.
