Otmar Suitner was an Austrian conductor known for his interpretations of German and Austrian classical music, particularly the works of Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss, and the Viennese classics. Born on May 16, 1922, in Innsbruck, Austria, Suitner's career spanned several decades throughout the 20th century. He served as the General Music Director of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in East Berlin from 1964 to 1990 and was also a principal conductor of the Staatskapelle Dresden.
