Colombian Cumbia Fusion Collective

Ondatrópica is a musical project that brings together a wide array of Colombian musicians from various generations and styles, masterminded by British producer Will Holland (Quantic) and Colombian musician Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero). The project aims to explore and expand upon the tropical sound of Colombia, blending traditional rhythms and instruments with modern influences. Ondatrópica's self-titled debut album was released in 2012 to critical acclaim, showcasing a fusion of cumbia, salsa, currulao, and other Latin American genres with elements of funk, jazz, and hip-hop. The collective's follow-up album, "Baile Bucanero," was released in 2017 and continued this exploration of Colombian musical heritage while pushing the boundaries even further. The group has been celebrated for its innovative approach to music and its role in bringing Colombian sounds to a global audience.
