The New Philharmonia Chorus, which may be associated with the New Philharmonia Orchestra, is not a widely recognized name as an independent recording artist or ensemble. The New Philharmonia Orchestra, however, was a prominent London-based orchestra that was founded in 1964 when the Philharmonia Orchestra's management changed. The orchestra worked with many distinguished conductors and soloists and made numerous recordings, including works such as Beethoven's "Missa Solemnis" and Mozart's opera "Don Giovanni. If they were indeed associated with the New Philharmonia Orchestra for these recordings, they would have participated in high-caliber performances under notable conductors of the time. In 1972, the orchestra reverted to its original name, the Philharmonia Orchestra, which continues to be one of London's leading orchestras today.
