Mutemath is an American alternative rock band formed in New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2002. The band's music blends elements of rock, electronica, and psychedelia among other genres. Originally started by lead vocalist and keyboardist Paul Meany and drummer Darren King, the group has undergone several lineup changes throughout its career. Mutemath gained recognition for their dynamic live performances and their self-titled debut album, which was released in 2006 to critical acclaim. They followed up with several more albums including "Armistice" in 2009, "Odd Soul" in 2011, "Vitals" in 2015, and "Play Dead" in 2017. The band is known for their innovative music videos and a sound that defies easy categorization. Despite not being a mainstream commercial success, Mutemath has cultivated a dedicated fan base and has received praise for their musicianship and creativity.
