Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels

Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels

60s American Rock Band with R&B Influences

Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels were an American rock band, formed in the mid-1960s in Detroit, Michigan. They were led by singer Mitch Ryder, born William S. Levise, Jr., who became known for his dynamic and passionate vocal style. The group was renowned for their energetic performances and a gritty, soulful sound that fused rock with rhythm and blues. They achieved their greatest success in the mid-1960s with a series of hit singles, including "Devil with a Blue Dress On," which was later covered by many other artists, and "Good Golly Miss Molly." Their music often featured driving rhythms and bluesy guitar riffs, which helped to lay the groundwork for future rock and soul crossover acts. Despite changes in lineup and musical trends, Mitch Ryder has continued to perform and record over the years, maintaining a dedicated fan base and a legacy as one of the seminal blue-eyed soul and rock acts to emerge from the Motor City.
