Metronomy

Metronomy

British indie electronic band

Metronomy is an English electronic music group formed in 1999 by Joseph Mount in Totnes, Devon. The band's sound is a blend of electronic music with elements of indie pop and new wave, often characterized by its use of vintage synthesizers and quirky, off-kilter beats. Metronomy gained prominence with the release of their second album, "Nights Out," in 2008, which showcased their distinctive style and included tracks that became fan favorites. Their breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed album "The English Riviera" in 2011, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize and marked a shift towards a more melodic and refined sound. The album's success helped to cement Metronomy's reputation as innovative musicians within the indie electronic scene. Over the years, the band has seen several lineup changes, with Mount remaining the principal songwriter and creative force. They have continued to evolve musically, releasing subsequent albums that explore different themes and sounds. "Small World," one of their later works, further demonstrates the band's ability to adapt and experiment while maintaining their unique identity within the music industry.
