Margarete Klose

Margarete Klose

German Operatic Mezzo-Soprano

Margarete Klose (1902–1968) was a renowned German mezzo-soprano, celebrated for her performances in operas by composers such as Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi. Born in Berlin, she began her career in the 1920s and quickly gained recognition for her powerful voice and dramatic intensity. Klose was particularly noted for her interpretations of Wagnerian roles, which would include parts in operas like "Die Walküre," where she could have performed as Fricka or other mezzo roles. Throughout the 1930s and 1940s, she became a staple at major opera houses, including the Berlin State Opera. Her recordings from this period are still highly regarded for their vocal quality and historical significance. While specific albums such as "Die Walküre 1.Und 2.Aufzug" and "Irische Legende" are not well-documented in relation to Klose, her overall contribution to classical music through her performances and recordings remains noteworthy.
