British electronic musician and producer

Maps is the stage name of James Chapman, a British electronic musician and producer. He emerged in the music scene with his debut album "We Can Create" in 2007, which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. His sound is characterized by a blend of shoegaze, electronica, and dream pop elements, often incorporating layers of synthesizers and ethereal vocals. Following his debut, Chapman released several more albums under the Maps moniker, including "Turning The Mind" in 2009 and "Vicissitude" in 2013. His fourth studio album, "Colours. Reflect. Time. Loss." was released in 2019 and showcased a more organic sound with live orchestration alongside electronic elements. Throughout his career, Maps has been known for his atmospheric tracks that bridge the gap between electronic music and more traditional songwriting.
