Underground Hip-Hop Trio from California

Lootpack is an underground hip-hop group hailing from Oxnard, California, and is known for its contributions to the alternative hip-hop scene. The group consists of three members: DJ Romes, Wildchild, and Madlib, the latter of which has gained significant acclaim as a producer and multi-instrumentalist in the wider music industry. Formed in the early 1990s, Lootpack made their first appearance on Tha Alkaholiks' 1993 album "21 & Over." The group's debut album, "Soundpieces: Da Antidote!," was released in 1999 through Stones Throw Records, a label that has been closely associated with Madlib's various projects. This album is celebrated for its crisp production, clever lyricism, and the seamless chemistry among its members. Although Lootpack did not release a vast number of albums, their influence can be felt through their collaborations and Madlib's subsequent success in other projects such as Quasimoto, Madvillain (with MF DOOM), and the jazz ensemble Madlib Invazion.
