Kristin Hersh is an American singer-songwriter and musician who emerged in the indie rock scene as the lead singer and guitarist of the alternative rock band Throwing Muses, which she co-founded with her stepsister Tanya Donelly. The band gained critical acclaim in the 1980s, particularly for their intense, emotionally charged music and Hersh's distinctive vocal style. After releasing several albums with Throwing Muses, Hersh began her solo career in 1994 with the album "Hips and Makers," which featured the hit single "Your Ghost."
