Johann Michael Bach

Johann Michael Bach

German Baroque Composer and Organist

Johann Michael Bach (1648–1694) was a German composer and organist of the Baroque period, and a member of the prolific Bach family. He was a cousin of Johann Sebastian Bach's father, Johann Ambrosius Bach, which made him J.S. Bach's first cousin once removed. Johann Michael was known for his church compositions, including motets and cantatas. His works were held in high regard by his relatives and descendants; for instance, Johann Sebastian Bach arranged some of his motets for his own use.
