Johann Bernhard Bach

Johann Bernhard Bach

Baroque German Composer and Organist

Johann Bernhard Bach (1676–1749) was a German composer and organist, not to be confused with his more famous relative Johann Sebastian Bach. He was part of the musically prolific Bach family, which produced many notable composers over several generations. Johann Bernhard served as the organist at the Stadtkirche St. Wenzel in Jena and was known for his compositions for keyboard and orchestra. His works include a collection of orchestral suites, which were admired for their melodic invention and skillful counterpoint. Although not as widely recognized as Johann Sebastian, Johann Bernhard's contributions to Baroque music have been appreciated by connoisseurs and have seen a revival in interest through recordings and performances of his surviving works.
