Il Pomo d'Oro is a renowned baroque orchestra that was founded in 2012. Specializing in the performance of music from the 17th and 18th centuries, the ensemble is known for its authentic and dynamic interpretation of baroque and classical operas and instrumental works. The orchestra has gained international acclaim for its collaboration with some of the world's leading soloists and has produced a number of critically acclaimed recordings. Under the artistic direction of Maxim Emelyanychev, Il Pomo d'Oro not only focuses on high-quality audio recordings but also places a strong emphasis on educational activities and innovative concert formats, aiming to reach a wide range of audiences. The ensemble's name, which translates to "The Golden Apple," is inspired by the opera "Il pomo d'oro" composed by Antonio Cesti for the wedding of Emperor Leopold I in 1666. Their work often features historically informed performances using original instruments or accurate replicas, which contributes to their authentic sound.
