Hugh Mundell was a Jamaican reggae singer and songwriter, whose promising career was tragically cut short by his untimely death. Born on June 14, 1962, in Kingston, Jamaica, Mundell is best known for his smooth voice and spiritually conscious lyrics that resonated with the Rastafarian movement. He began his music career at a young age and quickly gained recognition in the reggae scene. Under the guidance of legendary producer Augustus Pablo, Mundell released his debut album "Africa Must Be Free by 1983" in 1978 when he was just 16 years old. The album is widely regarded as a classic in the roots reggae genre and includes production work by Pablo, who also played melodica on several tracks.
