Gary Windo was a talented saxophonist known for his work in the realms of jazz and rock. Born on November 7, 1941, in Brighton, England, Windo had a career that spanned several decades, during which he collaborated with a variety of notable musicians. He was particularly recognized for his distinctive tenor saxophone playing style. Throughout his career, Windo worked with artists such as Nick Mason of Pink Floyd, the Psychedelic Furs, and Hugh Hopper of Soft Machine. He was also a member of the Carla Bley Band and contributed to various projects with his wife Pam Windo. Despite being a respected figure among his peers and having a dedicated following, Gary Windo remained somewhat under the radar in the mainstream music scene. His solo albums include "Dogface" and "Deep Water," which showcased his versatility and skill as a musician. Gary Windo passed away on July 25, 1992, but left behind a legacy that continues to influence and inspire saxophonists and music enthusiasts alike.
