Fun Boy Three

Fun Boy Three

British New Wave Pop Trio

Fun Boy Three was a British band that emerged in the early 1980s, consisting of Terry Hall, Neville Staple, and Lynval Golding. The trio had previously been members of the ska band The Specials and decided to form Fun Boy Three after leaving their former group. Their music represented a shift from the ska revival sounds of The Specials to a more eclectic mix of new wave and pop, often with a darker or more absurdist edge. Fun Boy Three achieved significant chart success with singles such as "The Lunatics (Have Taken Over the Asylum)" and "It Ain't What You Do (It's the Way That You Do It)," which they recorded with Bananarama. The band released their self-titled debut album, "The Fun Boy Three," in 1982, followed by "Waiting" in 1983, which featured the hit "Our Lips Are Sealed," co-written by Terry Hall and Jane Wiedlin of The Go-Go's. Despite their brief existence, Fun Boy Three left a lasting impact on the new wave scene before disbanding in 1983.
