American Hip-Hop Side Project

Fort Minor is a hip hop side project of Mike Shinoda, who is best known as the rapper, primary songwriter, keyboardist, rhythm guitarist and one of the two vocalists of the American rock band Linkin Park. Fort Minor's debut album, "The Rising Tied," was released in November 2005. The project combined elements of hip hop with a distinctly alternative rock background from Shinoda's work with Linkin Park. The most successful single from the album was "Where'd You Go," which featured Holly Brook and Jonah Matranga and became a hit in the United States. Despite the initial success and positive critical reception, Fort Minor has been on hiatus as Shinoda continues to work with Linkin Park and on his solo projects. However, he has occasionally performed Fort Minor songs during his solo shows and has not ruled out future projects under the Fort Minor name.
