Delitiæ Musicae

Delitiæ Musicae

Italian Early Music Ensemble

Delitiæ Musicæ is an Italian ensemble that specializes in the performance of Renaissance and Baroque music, particularly known for their interpretations of madrigals. The group was founded in 1992 by Marco Longhini, who is also the conductor. They have gained recognition for their complete recordings of all the madrigals by the Italian composer Claudio Monteverdi. Their work on Monteverdi's madrigals includes critically acclaimed albums such as "Madrigals Book 2," "Madrigals, Book 4," and "Madrigals Book 8; Madrigali Guerrieri Et Amorosi." Delitiæ Musicæ is noted for their scholarly approach to performance, often using period instruments and historically informed techniques to recreate the soundscape of the era in which the music was composed. Their recordings have contributed significantly to the appreciation and understanding of Monteverdi's work in the context of early music.
