Czech Baroque Orchestra and Choir

Collegium 1704 is a Czech early music ensemble that specializes in the performance of Baroque music, particularly the works of Czech and German composers. Founded in 2005 by conductor and harpsichordist Václav Luks, the group was named after the year of birth of the Bohemian composer Jan Dismas Zelenka, whose works they have frequently performed and recorded. The ensemble consists of a Baroque orchestra (Collegium 1704) and a vocal group (Collegium Vocale 1704), both of which aim to recreate the sound and style of music from the 17th and 18th centuries using period instruments and historically informed performance practices.
