British Jazz-Funk Band

Atmosfear was a British jazz-funk band formed in the late 1970s. They were part of the wave of British jazz-funk bands that emerged during that time, which included groups like Level 42 and Light of the World. Atmosfear gained recognition for their unique blend of funk, jazz, and disco, which was particularly evident in their hit single "Dancing in Outer Space." This track became a classic in the underground dance scene, especially within the UK's burgeoning jazz-funk movement. The band's debut album, "En Trance," released in 1981, further solidified their status within the genre, showcasing their ability to meld groovy basslines with atmospheric synthesizers and horns. Although they did not achieve widespread mainstream success, Atmosfear maintained a dedicated following and left a lasting impact on the UK's dance music scene. Their influence can be heard in the work of later British acid jazz and funk groups.
