The Doors is the eponymous debut studio album by American rock band The Doors , released on January 4, 1967. The album contains their breakthrough single "Light My Fire" and the long song "The End", written by the band's singer-songwriter Jim Morrison. The Doors was recorded between August and December 1966 and produced by Paul A. Rothchild. The album was released by Elektra Records on January 4, 1967. It reached number three on the Billboard 200 chart and eventually went double platinum. The album was well received by critics, who praised its dark and psychedelic sound. It was ranked #42 on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. The Doors has been released in several different formats, including CD, LP, cassette and digital download. A remastered and expanded version was released on January 24, 2006.
