Press review: 'The first of four concerts on January 17 and 18, 1970 at New York's Felt Forum, and thus in terms of content 1:1 the first of six CDs of the great Rhino set overseen by original Doors sound engineer Bruce Botnick. Each of the 180 grams, "direct to disc from HD-Master", was edited by direct editing pioneer Doug Sax. The honest technical documentation is exemplary - just what hi-fi fans want. The musically very blues-heavy set (with an excellent version of "Light My Fire") is still compelling and sounds wonderfully powerful and dynamic - whether it's better or worse than the silver disc depends more on the pickup or player. Portions of the tapes have been used for a number of live Doors recordings - but never have they sounded better than here."
