The album received a gold certificate from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipping 500,000 copies in the United States. The album was well received by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic awarded the album four stars out of five, stating that the album "captures the band at the peak of their powers". The album was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
