After introducing an army of guest vocalists on his last album and shaking up the guitar world with a duet with pop starlet Fergie, among others, Slash limits his new album to the bare minimum: a solid rhythm section that offers plenty of room for Slash's unmistakable playing, and a singer whose voice carries across the spectrum from dry rockers to opulent ballads. Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy has proven during Slash's recent concerts that he's exactly the right man for the job. The man just knows everything, giving each song its own distinctive touch and leaving Slash plenty of room in the spotlight. On tracks like ' No More Heroes ' and ' Standing In The Sun ' it's as if Slash and Kennedy are even communicating with each other, one with words, the other with strings, and it's unmissable that there's an equal team here that can bring dry rockers like ' One Last Thrill ' and modern radio tracks like first single ' You're A Lie ' to life.
