The press is brimming with enthusiasm, prophesying that any alienation that has existed between Simple Minds and their fans over the past decade and a half is now overcome. A major European tour in 2015 will show whether and to what extent this is true. The new album "Big Music" has its basis in the previous album. During the recording of that album, Simple Minds were in such a flow that they had more ideas than could fit on one album. In the meantime, those ideas have matured into songs for the here and now while paying homage to the spirit of their founding years. "Blindfolded" was the first song to be released as a video trailer for promotional purposes. It combines art rock and synth pop in the best possible way. "Honest Town" is a modern trip to the 80s. "Blood Diamonds" and "Broken Glass Park" get new versions and The Call's cover of "Let The Day Begin" is featured on "Big Music". Simple Minds' "Big Music" gives the impression that the band has retreated into itself during five years of radio silence, only to now return with a bang. They've delved into their deepest past and are building on it. As a result, however, the album sounds distinctly like 2014 and is fit for the future.
