The album spawned four singles, "Crazy Train", "Mr. Crowley", "Shot in the Dark" and "No Rest for the Wicked". No Rest for the Wicked was recorded at Ridge Farm Studios in Surrey, England. The album was produced by Osbourne and Duane Baron. Baron also served as the album's engineer. The album artwork was created by Osbourne and Wylde. The album No Rest for the Wicked was praised by music critics. Stephen Thomas Erlewine of AllMusic called it "an outstanding hard rock album" and "Ozzy's best album in years". Robert Christgau said the album "finds Prince of Darkness at his best". The album No Rest for the Wicked has been cited as an influence by several hard rock and heavy metal bands.
