Modeselektor have recorded a new album - they've been planning it for two years, and in a month they've hit the ground running. An album full of essential Modeselektor songs, made with experience, confidence and the usual madness. No kick in "Who Else" sounds like another on this album, no snare is repeated in another song. Every hi-hat is tailor-made, no synth appears exactly the same anywhere. The album isn't one of the predictable techno records, and that's why it's also a hard-hitting record. Even in the relentless search for new sounds, the old principle always applies: less is more. "Who Else" represents the sound of Berlin in all its ambivalence. From the first single "Wealth", a hip hop number with London grime artist Flohio, to "WMF Love Song", a tribute to the former Berlin club, but whose relentless British vibe will hardly make you think, to the dropped wisecracks of Estonian rapper Tommy Cash over the crunchy beat of "Who" and Otto von Schirach's shriek on the industrial darkness of "I Am Your God". Modeselektor takes care of the rest - let him crack, veer, rampage, experiment or just have fun. "Who Else" was created without any external pressure, only with their own ambition to make another strong record in mind.
