Although the festival featured some of the jazz world's most famous artists, Motown's most famous soulman received one of the warmest welcomes. Marvin opened his set with a funky rendition of his 1977 chart-topping hit "GOT TO GIVE IT UP," instantly creating an irresistible groove that must have convinced many doubters in the crowd. "FUNKY SPACE REINCARNATION" and "COME GET IT ON" followed, which seamlessly transitioned into another of his atmospheric, slow flowing gems, "LET'S GET IT ON". For over an hour and a half, we get to watch Marvin perform many hits, including duets with Tammy Terrell. "HOW SWEET IT IS (TO BE LOVED BY YOU)" and "I HEAR IT THROUGH THE GRAPEVINE," which Marvin performed with his familiar passion and power, not only delivered a stunning performance, but proved why he opened his own chapter in soul music history.
