Rightly regarded as a legend of progressive rock, the band has continually evolved and enthusiastically embraced the possibilities of the internet and used innovative ways to interact with listeners, resulting in an incredibly loyal legion of fans around the world. One of the earliest examples of this progressive online fan engagement was the 1999 "Marillion. com" event, which was one of the first internet promotions where the band asked fans to send in their passport photos, resulting in 732 photos being used on the album cover. Most of the album was mixed by Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree, and the remaining tracks were handled by the band themselves, which was the band's last album in the 1990s, but only the beginning of a more direct relationship with fans that has developed and deepened since.
