Lynyrd Skynyrd's Endangered Species, released in 1994, was the band's first studio album in over six years. The album was a return to form for the band and featured a mix of old-school Skynyrd rockers and more introspective ballads. The album was well received by fans and critics alike, and the band toured in support of it. However, tragedy struck in October of that year when a plane crash claimed the lives of three band members and two crew members. Shortly afterwards, the band decided to disband and Endangered Species became their last album.
