Live In Italy is a live album by the recently deceased underground rock legend Lou Reed, recorded in Verona and Rome from 7 to 10 September 1983. At the time of recording, Reed and his band were on a world tour to promote the studio album Legendary Hearts. The album, originally released in 1984, is considered by fans to be one of the finest live recordings by this almost uniquely influential New York artist. Reed is accompanied on this album by one of his finest bands - guitarist Robert Quine, bassist Fernando Saunders and drummer Fred Maher - and features 14 of Reed's solo and classic Velvet Underground tracks. Among them are explosively cacophonous versions of arguably autobiographical songs like "Kill Your Sons," "Waves of Fear" and "Rock N' Roll," as well as the utterly listenable 15:30-minute medley "Some Kinda Love / Sister Ray" and a revived version of "White Light / White Heat."
