A new perspective Last year, 2020, Katie Melua released her eighth studio album "Album No. 8", which reached number seven in the UK, number five in Germany and even number two in Switzerland. In 2021, the Georgian-British singer, songwriter and musician will once again tackle the songs, but from a new perspective: 'Acoustic Album No. 8' is a collection of acoustic covers of the originals. The idea for "Acoustic Album No. 8" was conceived during a lockout in the Corona pandemic. Melua couldn't go on tour, so she shared several acoustic performances of her songs online, mostly with her brother Zurab, who ended up producing the album. "I'm proud of these songs and I missed being able to go on tour when the album came out last year. Performing them in this distilled form breathed new life into them. Zurab has a brilliant mind and we were able to do everything, except the mastering, at home in a beautiful part of London. I think the tranquility and the green park that surrounds it are part of the atmosphere on the record," says the singer. The result is an album that sounds like an intimate live concert. With versions that sometimes deviate only slightly from the original and sometimes reinvent it. Alongside Katie and Zurab, her long-time musical collaborator Mark Edwards and violinist Simon Goff appear on several tracks.
