Sister EP 'Micro', released in January 2019, is more of an exciting warm-up exercise from the shooting stars, but the completely unhinged 'Macro' proves it: Jinjer immediately break down all boundaries with the brutal and fatefully titled opener "On The Top", obeying only one kind of right - their own. Frontwoman Tatiana Shmailyuk affirms the Ukrainians' exceptional status with chanting whispers, beautiful clean vocals and guttural growls, while deadly grooving riff cascades shatter the sultry songwriting. There's a dash of reggae in the brutality ("Judgement (& Punishment)"), a pleasantly rampant double bass in "Pausing Death" and technically excellent tracks like "Home Back" feel like gravity no longer applies. Breathtaking!
