For the 2012 40th Anniversary Collector's Edition, the album was remixed by producer Steven Wilson and personally authorized by Ian Anderson. It is often the case with remixes that the original character of the music is disturbed, especially when the new edition suddenly takes on a dynamic and clarity of recording that was not yet possible when the original album was released. Steven Wilson did not do this, however, and as a result this groundbreaking album in its time fully retains its charisma and character. Steven Wilson has broken everything down into its individual parts and somehow completely dusted it off. Great. Now this fantastic STEREO remix is also available separately on CD and LP.
