Herbert Jeffrey "Herbie" Hancock (born April 12, 1940 in Chicago, Illinois) is an American Academy Award and Grammy Award-winning jazz pianist and composer. Hancock's sextet is the most accomplished ensemble he has ever played with. With this work he opens new doors for jazz music as a whole.
